Diesel heaters are generally simple and reliable machines, to both operate and fix. Our range of Airrrex heaters is very simple to use and install. They are excellent heaters, however, like anything, there can always be something that throws a spanner in the works. Troubleshooting can be a painstaking process, especially when it comes to diesel heaters.

However, we generally find that the problem tends to be caused by the same issue, which you’ll be glad to hear is an easy fix.

Dirty Diesel – Why Your Microfilter Gets Clogged Up

If you have a problem with an Airrex Diesel heater 99% of the time it’s dirty fuel. The Airrex heaters use a very small microfilter which doesn’t take very long to get clogged up. While diesel doesn’t have much of a reputation for being the cleanest, there is a difference between clean and dirty diesel. Diesel isn’t as clean from the pumps as you may think. The best thing to do is to filter your fuel into your storage container and then filter it into the heater.

If the fuel is contaminated and the heater is no longer working or puffing black or white smoke and throwing up an error code 99% of the time all you need to do is change the filter. But then you will need to find the route of the problem which is usually dirt in the storage container.

What If It Isn’t The Fuel Filter?

If the fuel filter has been changed and the heater is still throwing up error codes or puffing out white smoke it could be the air circulation that is causing the heater to have problems. Always make sure your Airrex heater is not pushed up flat to wall or anything stopping Air circulation. If the heater is pushed up against something stopping Air circulation move the heater into an open area leave it for 10 minutes then get it started again.

Oxdale Products has had these heaters in the workshop for over 4 years now and never had an issue with the heaters. The only issue has been dirty fuel from either our supplier or from the storage tank.
